Many of our catnip bud customers wanted a whole leaf catnip format with smaller bud pieces. From the curing room whole bud bundles are crushed down and separated from the stalk. Big chunks of potent bud material and leaf are then packaged into zip lock bags. Our grow yer own catnip plant kit contain scarified over-wintered catnip seeds from our crops, a peat pellet disc for propagating your plant, and a small sample of our catnip leaf and flower herb, so kitty can have a bit of fun right away !

Simply place 20 or so seeds from the pouch into the expanded peat pellet disc ( add water to disc) then place the disc in a small cup. Provide intermittent sunlight, keep warm, and moist. Seeds should germinate within 10 days. When seedlings are 3 inches, transplant into 6 inch pots and place outside in spring-fall. Catnip plants will over winter, and rejuvenate in the spring. Catnip is a perennial from the mint family,species Nepeta cataria. Catnip will grow to four feet high producing lavender flowers in whorls at maturity. HINT : If planting outside, a small bird cage can be used to keep kitty and neighbour cats from trampling and crushing the young plant. Mature plants 2 ft + can take quite a bruising and keep on cruising, year after year.

Cats enjoy snacking on cat grass. Although cats do not receive a much nutrition from grasses, they do benefit from the fiber content. Our cat grass uses wheat and oat seeds. This kit provides an easy to grow source of grass fiber for kitty. Indoor cats will enjoy this product.

This product was designed with the manufacture of catnip toys and scratch posts in mind. We have found that most all cats respond to valerian. This is a very promising observation. As those cats which do not like catnip or honeysuckle usually find incredible enjoyment with valerian. The only problem with valerian is the smell associated with the herb ( stinky socks, yuk !) However we wash our valerian, and provide only small amounts in the toys and six paks.
