Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

My Three Amigos : Oskar  Felix  and  Toby

In1995 after finishing University, I left Waterloo, Ontario with hopes to make a life for myself in British Columbia. I drove nearly 5000 km in a 86 ford tempo, just me and my three amigos, Oskar, Felix and Toby. A litter box on the passenger side floor, a big bag of cat food, catnip toys, the music of King Crimson, Primus and Rush. Having a good road map, a couple of bucks in my pocket, and the love of my three amigos to keep me going. We reached BC after a week of driving, and settled in Maple Ridge.  Soon began the art of growing catnip on a rented farm property, later we created the concept and design that evolved into one of the best received catnip products in the industry. It is truly amazing how far we have come in 10 years. 

As the years past , so did my three amigos. Oskar was hit by a car, Toby went missing in the night, and Felix died of old age. A part of my heart disappeared with the passing of each of my three amigos. I miss them dearly....perhaps they continue to help my little catnip company along from above.

A Special Gift

The composition, Farwell Oskar was written and performed by James Black owner of the Kooky Kat Catnip Company. This song is a requiem for a little bundle of joy that left us one stormy winter night in 2001. Oskar was buried up in the forest, where he used to run and play, under a 200 year old cedar tree. His little body was placed into the ground along with the sheet music of his song. I am sure that his soul rose into the ether and now awaits us at the Rainbow Bridge. We have had many of our little companions leave us over the years. Felix Toby Sasha Gwynne Slinky. All are remembered in our hearts.
